Description
The Motivational Interviewing (MI) course prepares clinicians to implement a collaborative, person-centered approach used to strengthen motivation for meaningful behavior change. Learners explore the spirit of MI, core communication strategies, and practical techniques to navigate ambivalence. Through examples and applied practice, clinicians build skills to engage clients, support autonomy, and guide difficult conversations that promote self-determined change.
Upon completing the Motivational Interviewing course, clinicians can apply foundational MI skills in clinical interactions to support client engagement, reduce resistance, and facilitate goal-oriented conversations that align with clients' values and priorities.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence-based, client-centered communication approach designed to address ambivalence and support behavior change. Grounded in principles of partnership, acceptance, compassion, and evocation, MI is widely used across behavioral health settings.
